Sambhar is a delicious south Indian soup dish made with lentils and vegetables served with different snacks like idli, vada, dosa etc. A special spice powder sambhar masala is added to it. Ingredients: Toor dal - 1 cup Tamarind pulp - 2 Tbsp Shallots - 5 – 6 Drumstick - 1 Tomato(finely chopped) - 3 Coriander powder - 2 Tsp Red chili powder - 2 Tsp Sambhar masala - 1 tbsp Mustard seeds - 1 Tsp Curry leaves - few Salt as per taste. Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp Methi seeds - ½ Tsp Hing - ¼ Tsp Ghee - 2 Tbsp Dried red chilli – 2 Water as reqd. Method: 1. Wash toor dal and soak for 1 hr. 2. Pour 2 cups water in pressure cooker, add toor dal, turmeric powder and salt. 3. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame. The dal need to be cooked till smooth. 4. Scrap the drumstick and chop them in two pieces. 5. Peel the shallots and cut into two. 6. Now take a cooking pot, add ghee to it. 7. When ghee gets hot, add mustard seeds, methi seeds, dried chili, curry leaves and hing. 8. When seeds crackle add onion ,ginger and sauté. 9. Now add chopped tomatoes, drumsticks, red chili powder, sambhar masala, coriander powder and sauté well. 10. When tomatoes get pulpy, add cooked dal to it and add required amount of water. 11. Stir it, now add tamarind pulp and salt to it. Stir well and let it boil for few minutes. 12. Your Sambhar is ready to be served. Note: You can also add chopped veggies like carrot, bottle guard to it as per taste and to make it more health

Sambhar is a delicious south Indian soup dish made with lentils and vegetables served with different snacks like idli, vada, dosa etc. A special spice powder sambhar masala is added to it.

Ingredients:
Toor dal - 1 cup
Tamarind pulp - 2 Tbsp
Shallots - 5 – 6
Drumstick - 1
Tomato(finely chopped) - 3
Coriander powder - 2 Tsp
Red chili powder - 2 Tsp
Sambhar masala - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 Tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt as per taste.
Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
Methi seeds - ½ Tsp
Hing - ¼ Tsp
Ghee - 2 Tbsp
Dried red chilli – 2
Water as reqd.

Method:

1. Wash toor dal and soak for 1 hr.
2. Pour 2 cups water in pressure cooker, add toor dal, turmeric powder and salt.
3. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame. The dal need to be cooked till smooth.
4. Scrap the drumstick and chop them in two pieces.
5. Peel the shallots and cut into two.
6. Now take a cooking pot, add ghee to it.
7. When ghee gets hot, add mustard seeds, methi seeds, dried chili, curry leaves and hing.
8. When seeds crackle add onion ,ginger and sauté.
9. Now add chopped tomatoes, drumsticks, red chili powder, sambhar masala, coriander powder and sauté well.
10. When tomatoes get pulpy, add cooked dal to it and add required amount of water.
11. Stir it, now add tamarind pulp and salt to it. Stir well and let it boil for few minutes.
12. Your Sambhar is ready to be served.

Note: You can also add chopped veggies like carrot, bottle guard to it as per taste and to make it more health
